1940's Blonde MOTS Supro

PREVIOUS OWNER REPORTS:  Supro Lap Electric Guitar,  pick up works,  missing some machine head parts,  in decent shape otherwise,  with old beat up maroon felt lined case.

DENNY'S NOTE:  Notice the handsome shoulders of the upper bouts.  This is one of the rarer Supro / Valco designs;  A bit thinner and narrower than it's beefier cousins.  It looks small, but it's standard Supro / Valco 23" scale length shows that it isn't small.  A really nice Steel.  It has a nice, original, plush, deluxe hardshell case that's not in as bad a condition as the non-Musician previous owner reported above;  "Normal active wear" would have been my choice of words;  Not "beat up".  The case has rather normal active wear and is quite easily refurbishable to good presentable condition;  If a person even wanted to do that;  Leaving it as it is would be all original with normal average use wear.  I can expertly repair any weak spots in the case for a nominal charge, if a Customer desires.

The thinner & narrower design of this Steel makes it a much better Supro / Valco to travel with as it will fit into standard size luggage.  It is 29.5" from tip of headstock to butt of the body;  7" wide, and 2" thick from back plane to top of pickup plane.  It's case is 34" x 8" x 2.75" respectively.

As with most of the vintage instruments I sell;  In keeping with wise Buyers' expectations and thus industry standard, I do not touch / repair anything on a vintage instrument unless the Buyer / Customer OK's that I do so, .....for very small modest fees to cover parts and material costs.  I try my best to inspect closely and disclose any substantial issue(s) an instrument might have.

Tuners need overhauling or replacing.  The tuners buttons are deteriorated and useless, and 3 no longer exist, ....as is common with old tuners.  2 tuner ferrules are missing1 tuner string shaft is missing. ~~~ New vintage type tuner sets are readily available as are replacement ferrules.  ~~~ To repair this Steel's original tuners:  Tuner buttons are readily available and rather easy for a reasonably able craftsman to replace.  New tuner buttons will antique if desired by soaking them in a cup of strong black coffee for a couple of days to the shade of antiquing desired, then rinsing in water.  Soaking in brown cold-water fabric dye will also produce similar results.  Sets of new ferrules are readily available and will antique by soaking in a cup of coca-cola for several hours and then rinsing with water.  String posts can often be found in guitar stores' / shops' guitar repair tech's old parts bins (they save even every spare / surplus screw accumulated, collected, etc). ~~~ I will replace these tuners and ferrules with new replacements, and antique them if a Customer desires, for $35;  And will keep these old tuner parts in my parts bin.

This Steel's volume and tone
knobs are not original.  They appear to be 1960's era TV or radio knobs.
