This is The Outcasts' first logo and first letter head.
Made by Denny in early 1964, and first painted on the back of white shirts as band uniforms.
JIM CARSTEN      BUDDY CARSON       RICKY WRIGHT        DENNY TURNER    JIM RYAN

Denny, Buddy and Ricky were the first Outcasts.  The Outcasts first uniforms were white shirts with their logo hand painted on the back.  Taking on Sally Senter as Manager in 1964, Sally and the guys auditioned singers, guitarists and bassists and chose Jim C. and Jim R. hands down.  The silver lame' jackets in this 1964 picture were their first professional outfits.  Notice Buddy's first keyoard, a Wurlitzer electric reed piano.  Denny's guitar here was his first electric, a ' 60 Framus Les Paul "copy".  Jim Ryan is sporting his vintage Fender Bass.  Jim Carsten played a ' 53 Telecaster at that time.
The picture below is a proof print from a promo picture photo-studio session and has never been published until now.  This picture was taken in late 1964 on the same day the Beatle jackets were acquired and fitted.  Notice that the hair is starting to grow out for the first time, ...about the limit schools allowed back then.  Buddy and Ricky went to Holmes High School, Denny to Marshall, Jim Ryan to San Antonio College and Jim Carsten to Jefferson.
