Bout edge swelling due to body sweat:
V
V
Very common on old Danelectros that have been played allot is that upper arm sweat will work it's way into the masonite around the edge of the lower bass bout, in the area shown here.  Although I and many others view this as character of being played (and the more a guitar is played over the years, the better it's sound qualities are, by far ....and why such signs of character / "mojo" are so popular);  I can imagaine that in another 45 years such swelling could become a cauliflower ear if not addressed in the reasonable future.  Putting a stop to this "sponging" is as simple as having a professional or good craftsman seal this immediate area with several coats of thinned clear sealer applied with a fine artists brush.  It's what I do to my own old Danelectros with this mark of character, ...so that others in the future might  get the same enjoyment without a cauliflower ear slowly growing on the edge of that body bout.
