NOTICE:

This webpage is an extension of a master page about using rare earth magnets jigged in a vice to "recharge" pickup magnets.

This webpage is an example of using a portable carpenter's vice rather than a bench mounted shop vice as shown on the pickup recharging master page.

SURPRISINGLY SMALL RARE EARTH MAGNETS CAN CAUSE GREAT HARM IF NOT HANDLED CAREFULLY, CAUTIOUSLY AND PROPERLY.  BE SURE to read the SAFETY WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS on the master page linked above before attempting to even unpack / handle a rare earth magnet with any dimension larger than 1/4".
2" x 1/2" x 1/2" Neo-Dymium rare earth magnet mounted vertical in carpenter's vice.
2 Pickup magnets (bound by masking tape) for a 1948 Regal lap steel are being "charged" in the vice.
Clothspin halves stand-off the magnets from direct contact with the vice.
This carpenter's vice is by far the best vice I have found for jigging pickup recharging magnets.
