After reassembly the guitar is strung, tuned, set-up and operationally tested. It plays and sounds great. The pickups can be set closer to the strings for a more dynamic signal if desired, ...by fabricating wood risers like the one put under the rear pickup at the factory. Ace Hardware Lub-E light oil was applied to the guitar's finish and plastics with a soft rag and then wiped off, ...to refurbish it's aged / deplenished oils. Lube-E is innocuous to finishes and plastics and is excellent for refurbishing old finishes and intact-plastics. Hanging overnight, the oil film will allow the oils to sink in. The guitar will be further wiped down prior to packing. By the time it arrives at it's destination the oils should be stable and like a fine polish. If it is too slick for personal preference, the slickness can be removed by wiping further with toilet paper or soft facial tissue paper. ~~~~~~~ The parts-donor Stratotone is on the right with it's parts cleaned up and bagged. It will be packed away awaiting a ressurection in the future. |
