1961 Harmony Stratotone / Silvertone 1420 aka "Commie-Bloc Les Paul" 2 early DeArmond "motel soapbar" pickups. Great and clear acoustic / electric Jazz and rythm tones at low amp gains, throughout the guitar's volume and tone control ranges; Great Blues & Rock tones at the top of pre-amp head-room gains; "Marshall amp" sounding compressed tones at higher pre-amp gains. The GREAT tone of these guitars has allot to do with both the guitar's design and DeArmond's expertise, and pickups wound with very fine wire creating an expanded / compressed tone envelope with rich dynamics. With good cause, these 1420's along with the Silvertone Harmony Jupiter were the affordable "Les Pauls" for Guitarists of the old USSR and Communist Bloc countries. PREVIOUS OWNER REPORTS: ALL POTS DATE TO 41ST WEEK OF 1961. INSIDE IS STAMPED F-61 FJ. WORKS FINE. KNOB AND BRIDGE HAVE BEEN CHANGED. ONE TONE POT IS A LITTLE SCRATCHYNESS BUT PROBABLY JUST NEEDS TO BE SPRAYED OUT. VERY SMALL CRACK IN PICKGUARD AT ONE OF THE SCREWS. IT HAS SOME REPAIRED CRACKS NEAR THE INPUT JACK, YOU CAN STILL SEE THEM BUT THEY ARE STABLE. FINISH HAS SOME WEAR AND SCRATCHES HERE AND THERE AND BACK OF NECK HAS LOTS OF WEAR. CONDITION OF THE FINISH OVERALL IS NOT BAD CONSIDERING IT IS OVER 40 YEARS OLD. AUTOGRAPHED BY LEON SPINKS, THE BOXER. COMES WITH ORIGINAL CHIPBOARD CASE, CASE IS WORN BUT STILL OPERATIONAL. |

The pics above were provided by the Seller I bought the guitar from. In the absence of good pics of this guitar, you can CLICK HERE to see an identical model in very much the same condition as this Spinks signed Stratotone. I will take better pics as soon as I can, or upon a serious potential Buyer requesting same. |
