When I was ops-checking this guitar a noise in the jack started occuring after about 20 minutes; Wiggle the cord and the jack made substantial noise. I learned the nature of the noise long ago; Internal jack corrosion and poor ground connection (a capacitive ground loop), allowing signal to 'feedback through ground'. So no choice but to open her back up and find out why.
Bad electrolysis corrosion as I had suspected:
Lucky; This jack can be taken apart; The grounding sleeve and terminal clamps to the outside of a center block, while the positive polarity tongue inserts into a slot from the bottom of the block's interior; With those 2 parts separated by a phoenolic insulating washer. Now it's get down to cleaning the oxidation off with electronics contact cleaner, small wire brush, a small nail and Q-tips:
After scrubbing the parts clean and reassembling the jack, the inside of the plug sleeve is then sprayed out with contact cleaner and immediately sanded with a rolled up small piece of medium-light grit sand paper slid and twisted in and out and turned on it's rolling axis. Here we can see ferrous corrosion on the sandpaper:
The sand paper is then pushed in deeper to clean the tip contact tongue in the same manner:
Shown still not seated here; 2 tab cleats are carefully pressed back into place with a pair of angled needle nose pliars and the tabs cleats pushed into the block lip with a small screwdriver:
When they are as tight as can be feasibly made, I then stacked small drops of Franklin white glue to run down behind and below the tabs, to reinforce their grip; Voila, an original part back to work:
I let the glue dry overnight to bind the tabs with the lip real sturdy before handling the part to put it back into the guitar:
