Medium brown colored spatter is the original soldering's flux spatter.  All of the original pots were 250K, made in Japan without a SAE pots code.  The front pickup tone pot is aftermarket 500K, surely to provide a wider bassier tone curve for rythm on the front pickup when the tone pot is rolled back to bassier rythm tones.  The 500K pot could also accentuate the bridge pickup (block filter bleed-through) or drive some of the neck pickup through the bridge pickup's circuit, making for a broader range of rythmn tones without interferring with the guitar's fuller inherent tones.
I place a custom cut sheet of vapor phase corrision inhibitor paper onto the inside of the back of the guitar.  With the pickguard sealing the body cavity, this paper will reduce if not prevent electrolysis corrosion, for approximately 10 years.  It is lightly glued to the back of the guitar with several drops of Elmer's elementary school white glue for easy removal if ever desired.
A very easy way to align the pickguard up with it's screw holes and hold it in place while screws replace the toothpicks.
Screws are left loose until they are all installed.  This lets the pickguard slide to adjust for all screws alignment.
Then the screws are snugged up in a skipping fashion like putting lugnuts on a car, which stops and prevents bending or binding pressure from being walked across the pickguard to the last screw(s) being tightened.
